Award winning photographer Alexander (Sasha) Vasiljev began studying to be a fine artist but ultimately received his degree in biology with a major in botany. He curated and worked with major tropical orchid collections in Ukraine, Russia and the United States.
Since immigrating to the United States, Vasiljev has transitioned to become a full-time professional photographer. His work has been exhibited in galleries and is included in many private collections. Several of his photographs are now part of the permanent collection at the Embassy of the Republic of Costa Rica in Washington, DC. His work has also been exhibited at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History and has been published in numerous magazines, including: Audubon Magazine, Nature’s Best Photography, Photo+, Orchids Magazine, Infinite Ecuador Magazine. Vasiljev is on the faculty of The Washington School of Photography and Washington Studio School, and offers private classes and workshops for individuals and groups. His interests include natural history, wildlife and plants, especially orchids. He is fluent in English and Russian.

Mainor Chacón is originally from Puntarenas, Costa Rica. Growing up in the countryside, Mainor has developed a great appreciation for natural life by observing it first hand. His special interests are in natural history, birds and other wildlife.
With a Bachelor of Arts from the National University of Costa Rica, Mainor has been a Certified Tour Guide since 2004. He has vast experience in various aspects of the eco-tourism industry, including managing eco-lodges and tour agencies in Costa Rica, Ecuador and Mexico. He has worked with the Ministry of Culture of Costa Rica to promote folklore, popular dance and theater. Mainor is fluent in Spanish and English.
