Costa Rica impresses with its luscious tropical rainforest, possessing an extraordinary biodiversity. This region boasts close to 830 bird species, more than the United States and Canada combined. Ten percent of the world’s known butterflies are found here, along with 8,000 flowering plants, 15 % of which are orchids.
Located in Central America and flanked by the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, Costa Rica has a tropical climate with temperatures between 72-89 degrees. The rainy season lasts from May to November followed by the dry season from December to April. Social and political stability, high levels of literacy, and an efficient infrastructure make Costa Rica a perfect destination for the nature photographer and avid eco-tourist.
